Watch this classic video with John Lust on how nature’s treatments can restore and maintain good health before reading our full story below.
Over one hundred years ago, Doctor Benedict Lust recognized the value of healthy living through a natural lifestyle. He believed in recognizing the work of God and nature to cure the body of its ills and cleanse toxins. After studying holistic healing methods, he founded the American School of Naturopathy. Today, his legacy is carried on by the third generation of Lusts who still believe in sharing his natural healing practices with the world.
After a fatal diagnosis of tuberculosis, Doctor Lust returned to his native Germany where he found miraculous healing in the hydrotherapy used by a priest. Wanting to share his discoveries in the study of natural health, Doctor Lust returned to America where he opened hospitals, a school, and a health food store—all the first of their kind. He founded the American Naturopathic Association, which includes over 4,000 members today.
Doctor Lust himself summed up his philosophy by explaining: “the natural system for curing disease is based on a return to nature and regulating the diet, breathing, exercising, bathing, and the employment of various forces to eliminate the poisonous products in the system and so raise the vitality of the patient to a proper standard of health.”
The Lust family continues to honor his commitment to bringing natural healing to the world through their publications and courses. What began as a groundbreaking medical discovery in 1896 is still a family-owned company committed to sharing their path to a healthy life.
